Just occasionally, I feel a bit schizophrenic trying to balance several different mediums! Here’s a peak into the artist’s brain; a conversation between me, myself, and I.
“You know, that Strong Woman of Opera Portrait sure is taking a long time. I’d better put all my energy into completing it.”
“Yes, but what about that watercolor? Are you going to let your skills go? You can do ten of them in the time each portrait takes…”
“Talking about letting skills go, remember that you want to experiment in Graphite. Huh? Huh? Do you remember? What about spending the evening drawing? Experiment…”
“Well, if I’m drawing, I don’t have the time to experiment! Not with that acrylic portrait still to finish!”
“Now that you mention it, what about those pen-and-ink sketches of Figaro?”
“Wait! Who mentioned it…I mean, them? I have a portrait to finish!”
“A portrait? Aren’t you ever going to finish that floral?”
(Guilty pause) “Which floral?…”
I do try to balance-which is why I have two of three pieces in progress at any given time!
