A friend who is a photographer very graciously allows me to use his photographs. This picture of an aspen grove was the first one I did, back during the 101 Day Challenge as Day 22. I also just completed an acrylic painting of the same scene.

It fascinates me to see them side-by-side. The colors are nearly the difference of an overcast and sunny day! Of course, the mediums are completely different to work in, which really affected each painting. For example–the color of the sky. I used a light blue for the watercolor. In the acrylic, I could layer yellow beneath the light blue, which in watercolor would have made…You guessed it. Green!
I think a large part of the difference is also the amount of time between doing the paintings. I saw the reference photograph with new eyes.
